Legislation and Certification

Hawaii implemented the detailed Fire Door inspections of NFPA 80 (2012 ed.) in several ways.
  • For the City and County of Honolulu, it was adopted through NFPA 1 on August 15, 2014.
  • For CMS, it was adopted through NFPA 101 on June 10th, 2016.

NFPA 80 provides a detailed definition of a person qualified to perform fire door inspections. It includes certificates, degrees, skills, training, and experience. Fire Doors Hawaii has taken steps to ensure the highest level of accuracy in your inspections.  Specifically, in addition to our President and Manager being nationally certified we have instituted a more rigorous training requirement for our local technicians.

Fire Door Hawaii technicians are certified to a level beyond NFPA 80 Requirements
